Battle Abbey Proms

Battle Abbey, site of the 1066 Battle of Hastings, is one of the most significant and historic places in England and provides a stunning back drop for outdoor concerts.

Now in its fifth year, The Battle Abbey Proms is becoming a regular date in the diary for many concert goers. 2003 saw approximately 12,000 people over two nights enjoy music and fireworks.

PROMS SPECTACULAR

SATURDAY, 28th AUGUST 2004

The 2004 Proms Spectacular provides an evening of the highest quality entertainment, featuring conductor Jae Alexander, the English National Orchestra, tenor Wynne Evans and soprano Sarah Ryan. The original World War 2 Spitfire, which has become such a popular feature of this concert, will once again take to the skies, thrilling the audience with a spectacular aerial display as the orchestra performs classics such as the Dambusters Theme and 633 Squadron. Alongside these, the programme will feature favourites such as William Tell Overture by Rossini and Radetsky March by Strauss. Bringing the evening to a close will be the traditional proms collection accompanied by a spectacular display of fireworks.

70S/80s PARTY NIGHT STARRING

The Party Night at Battle Abbey is now in its third year and continues to go from strength to strength. The 2004 concert will feature none other than Bjorn Again, hailed as the greatest ABBA tribute band in the world. Stars in their own right, Bjorn Again have scooped accolades and awards across the globe for their faithful and thrilling live show, which features all the greatest songs by the Swedish supergroup. Bjorn Again are one of the best live bands you will ever see and deserve their status as the greatest ABBA tribute band of all time.

The evening will begin with DJ at 6.30pm, with a performance by the original stars from the classic film The Commitments at 8pm prior to Bjorn Again. The band have consistently toured around the world since the success of the film and will be making their debut at Battle Abbey performing classic soul hits including Mustang Sally, Try A Little Tenderness, Chain Of Fools, Take Me To The River and many more. With a superb fireworks finale this is one party you cannot miss. So phone your friends, dig out your 70s outfits and prepare for the biggest event of the summer!
